To the CSR at Southern Rods and Parts, Inc. Your arrogant, rude and curt attitude towards customers like me helps Amazon tremendously. The wiper kit that I used for the FIRST TIME was making a noise that could only be described as nylon gears not meshing correctly and jumping around in the mount. When I asked, you GUESSED that the product had a sixty-day warranty. Really? I purchased it 12/2/2019 and now it is 3/6/2020, too bad for me. But, why the attitude? You don't know that my Model A has Southern Air, that my '40 Chevy project will have Vintage Air. Anyhow, I bought a new wiper kit (Pacific Union) from Amazon Prime, less money AND free shipping. Unfortunate that online shopping is replacing "brick and mortar" stores but, customer service like yours pushes us to it.

1955 Chev Belair Resto mod

2011 I saw the mentioned car on Ebay. Total frame off restoration by "Terry Adams" supposed great crew chief for Pro Stock Teams Schumacher and Edwards.

The car looked great in pictures but after about 1 year the paint started bubbling and I waited til2013 to take it to a restorer and then we found the extent of the rust. I had to do a total strip and repaint to the tune of 40k !! The more we looked the worse it got. I contacted Wendell when I first got the car wanting to know particulars on the 454 motor in the car.

HE gave me Adams number and Adams acted like I was bothering him.

HE didn't know anything so he said..year horsepower, said it had not been tuned on a dyno which was strange for a professional crew chief ! Anyway I did not see any bad reviews on COlston and Southern HOt Rods back then...now there is plenty!!

I don't even know how to respond to that. I don't know how anyone could possibly spend that much money on the body and paint on a car. It seems like that paint and body shop made a killing on that job.. The car was absolutely gorgeous when you bought it from me and we both know that. My question is why didn't you let me know right away that you weren't happy with the car and give me a chance to buy it back ??

Car

The guy is simply not a truthful seller, he's a predator. Buyer beware! .. run from him because if it seems too good to be true, it most certainly is. Takes fancy photos and concocts flowery BS stories about the car and supposed well known owners of the car, all or most of which is totally fabricated and untrue…clearly a long ways from what he represents it to be. Runs adds on ebay fully knowing he's going to lure folks in, cancel his Ebay auction and then sell his unsuspecting prey direct. He's a seasoned pro at ripping people off and it's obvious from these complaints that he's gotten to others and just not me.

1962 Plymouth Belvedere 2 dr. post MW clone. No compression on 6 cylinders

Bought the car 3 months ago. Car was shipped via Rotterdam to Germany.Last week pick up at the harbour. Car runs really bad,so we had to push it on the trailer. Yesterday the truth: all spark plugs are fired up.The isolaters are nearly gone. All are oil burnt. Compression test: 2 have 9 bar, 6 have about 6-7bar. This is nothing. Musst have about 10,5 but almost 9,5 to run well! We have to pull out the engine and have to check it. I wrote Wendell but he told me that the car runs great in his hands. Nonsens! such a low compression comes not over night... We will see if he is consumer friendly and pay for the mess...

Southern Hot Rods - Wendell AMC Javelin Rip Off

E-Bayer seller - I was told that the classic car I bought was near 100 points mechanically. Not so. Leaks from tranny, front axel, valve covers, and oil pan. Broken wipers, & gas gauge. "New Wiring" actually meant old wires newly wrapped in electrical tape!. Distributor not adjusted or springed/. Paint described as "Not perfect" and is usually used in all of their listings and a general disclaimer;. In my case, that translated to cracks all about:. Look at a few and you can see a form letter/. Found a prior compaint about selling a non-authentic R/S Camaro/. You had better go in person and bring a mechanic and paint gauge;. I kid you not;. Southern Hot Rods LLC, 4495 Columbia Rd, Augusta, GA 30907 3****79 While the AMC Javelin isn't as famous or popular as the more common Mustangs and Camaros, take a good look at this 1972 Javelin SST and you'll find a lot of cool details that deserve a closer inspection. It also offers V8 muscle and tidy handling, not to mention that stunning color combination, all of which make it a great choice if you tend to color outside the lines a little bit. The Javelin was redesigned in 1971 and got longer, lower, and wider with dramatic flared fenders that are its most distinctive look. But being the early 1970s, it was still OK to go a little wild with colors and decals, and this SST wears a fresh coat of original Wild Plum, and it's as magnificent today as it surely was in 1972. With the addition of front and rear spoilers, it takes on an attitude that's quite aggressive, seemingly ignoring the fact that the horsepower races were over. The bodywork is amazingly straight and well-executed thanks to a comprehensive restoration in 2009, after which the car traveled fewer than 3000 miles. Check out the white vinyl roof, which is split down the middle by a raised section of bodywork and is so odd that it's cool. There's also enough chrome to remind you that this was 1972, and all of it has been neatly refinished so it sparkles against the vivid purple paint. Inside, it's quite elegant with high-back buckets upholstered in black and white houndstooth fabric that looks decidedly familiar. The Javelin received just about the coolest dashboard of the period, a wrap-around affair that was more like a cockpit than anything since the original Corvette. With a brushed stainless face and handsome shiny gauges inside squared circles, it maintains the racy image that the Javelin represented. Everything is within easy reach of the driver, including the AM/FM/cassette stereo and the climate controls (including factory A/C!), and the center console houses a tachometer at its leading edge. Things like the dash pad and door panels are original, so you know this has always been a nice car, and it's so well finished that even the clock remains fully functional. There's also a reasonably-sized back seat and lots of storage under the sloping rear deck, even with the space-saver spare in the trunk.

Southern Hot Rods - Didn't Sale - Relisted. No one wants?

Wendell reserves the right to end early. 1950 GMC Pickup Truck Original Shop Truck…Reno Rod & Custom A True Patina Truck—Not Fabricated Actual Shop Truck Built in the 60’s Original 228ci GMC Motor Original 4-Speed on the Floor Original 2-Piece Wheels Recent COMPLETE Service w/Receipt Runs & Drives Excellent Drive it Anywhere! his made me think back to other "bad apple" situations when all sellers on eBay have to pay for the abuse of the few, such as the fee we now pay on shipping fees (yes, a fee on shipping fees...sounds funny, doesn't it?) because some sellers were listing items at deceptively low starting prices and packing the real cost of the item into their shipping, in order to save on listing fees. It also makes me wonder, who is finding the need to end so many auctions early, and why are they doing it? It reminds me of that old Seinfeld bit about how they have that tiny slot for used razor blades in airplane bathrooms: "Who is shaving on the plane? And shaving so much they're using up razor blades? Is the wolf man flying in there?" Who is ending so many auctions early? And if the "few bad apples" are abusing this, could eBay find a way to prevent the few, rather than penalizing the many? Granted, eBay does allow a seller one freebie a year: "In rare situations, a seller may need to end a listing early, so the fee will be waived the first time a seller ends a listing early each calendar year." Could eBay, for example, set a reasonable limit on ending a listing early..say, three to five a year? Or some other amount? Or is there another way they could handle it, such as targeting the sellers who are doing this on a regular basis? Personally, I don't often need to use this feature, but on the rare occasion when I do, it is for a good reason, such as I discovered a flaw that I hadn't noticed on first inspection (we are only human after all; all sellers sometimes make mistakes) and it makes the auction unacceptable. Or, let's say someone's dog chewed up the lovely Manolo Blahniks they had up for sale. I don't do it often but if I had to do it just a few times a year, I don't like that I'll be charged for it. (Granted, I don't think any of the auctions I ever ended early had a bid, but after 13 years of selling, I honestly can't remember). What do you think? Is this fee fair, or do you not give it much thought? And on a larger level, when these "bad apple" situations occur, do you think eBay could use its technology to ferret out those who are "gaming the system" and penalize only them?

Wendell has really done it now! Southern Hot Rods

The Scam: The Wendell advertises a car with a great price, but when you show up at the dealership, they say it's already been sold. They then try to get you to buy a more expensive vehicle. The whole point of a bait-and-switch ad is to get you to the showroom. What To Do: Call Southern Hots just prior to visiting to confirm they still have the vehicle in stock. If so, ask them to email or fax you a signed statement indicating that the vehicle is still in stock and available for sale. If they try to pull a bait and switch on you after that, you will have proof. Wendell. Javelins are a top car in bait and switches. You want a Javelin, you are switched. During the era between the Mycenaean times and the Roman Empire, the javelin was a commonly used offensive weapon. Being lighter than the spear, the javelin would be thrown rather than thrust and thus allowed long distance attacks against one’s enemy. Athletes, however, used javelins that were much lighter than military ones because the idea of the event was to demonstrate distance rather than penetration. The one major difference between the javelin of the ancient games and the javelin of more modern times is a leather thong, called an ankyle that was wound around the middle of the shaft. Athletes would hold the javelin by the thong and when the javelin released this thong unwound giving the javelin a spiraled flight.

Wendell will you please stop this??? Studebaker Avanti

The Scam: The dealer will quote you a very low price on your trade-in. First, they want to see if you're a true sucker and willing to accept such a low offer. If not, they're hoping it will cause you to question the value of your vehicle. As they increase the offer, it seems like a victory to you, but since they started out so low, you still get ripped off. Wendell with you please fix this once and for all. Stop selling cars with attitudes. OK. Next... What To Do: Shop your trade-in to multiple dealers. Don't deal with Wendell direct.

Southern Hot Rods AMC Javelin Had No Compression on 7 Cyclinders

Wendell sold a Javelin listed as rebuilt but a quick check revealed that not only was it not rebuilt, it was painted with enamel paint that was oil based. That year the company introduced two new performance offerings: the Javelin and a truncated variant called the AMX. The Javelin was a much better attempt at cracking the pony car market than the Marlin, and the two-seat AMX was a new sort of animal altogether. Both cars were available with 290-, 343-, or 390-cid V-8s, with the 390 pumping out a respectable 315 bhp. Cars equipped with the 390 were generally good for high-14-second quarter-mile times, putting AMC in the thick of the muscle car battle. However, the Javelin and AMX were not the only AMC performance offerings. In 1969, AMC worked with shifter manufacturer and specialty-car builder Hurst to produce the 390-powered SC/Rambler. It followed that up in 1970 with the Rebel Machine, which packed a 340-bhp 390. When the Rebel was retired, the 1971 Hornet SC/360 took its place as AMC's low-buck muscle car. AMC's biggest-displacement performance engine arrived for 1971: a 401-cid V-8 rated at 330 bhp. The 401 was the top option for that year's new, larger Javelin, as well as the AMX, which ceased to be a separate model and became part of the Javelin lineup. Real AMC performance faded as the 1970s progressed, but the Javelin/AMX soldiered on with a low-compression, 255-bhp 401 for a few years. When the Javelin ended production after 1974, AMC's performance personality died along with it.

Southern Hot Rods - Wendell Switched Car Mats

You can't just buy the type of auto floor mats you notice in the store, you might not end up with what your car needs. Shopping around is okay but you must be careful and must give lots of thought before deciding on something. To be able to find the right kind of floor mat that is suitable for your car, here are a few of the features a good quality floor mat offers. This will help you in making decisions on whether what type of floor mat best fits your vehicle. Automotive floor mats varies physically, some are always bigger than the others, and you would not want to buy something that is either too small or to big for your car's floor right? So before going through the selections, know the size that your car needs. Pricing for automotive floor mats is not a fixed thing too. Price range depends on the factors that your automotive capability requires. Weather and other environmental factors around your place is a good basis in choosing the quality of the floor mat you are looking for. But always remember, that no matter how fancy one floor mat offers all of the floor mats available in shops does the job of keeping dirt off your car floor so fanciness doesn't always count as "importance" in choosing floor mats. Better keep your thoughts on its quality.

Sold car out from under me

Wendell professes to be a "Christian" on his eBay and website and says "my word on the phone is like a handshake". Don't believe a word he says he's like every other low life internet car dealer. Don't trust him as far as you could throw him. He lied to me and sold a car out from under me for a couple of thousand bucks even while I was trying to wire transfer the money to him. This is a dishonest way of doing business it's usually impossible to trust some of these car dealers and I would not trust this guy.

I have purchased several cars from Wendell at southern hot rods and have been very pleased with them and not only that he goes out of the way to make every deal smooth and easy. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to any of my friends !

You really should go look in person at any car before you purchase it anyway. But, in the case of Wendell at Southern Hotrods- you can rest assured the vehicle will be as described.

He is a super honest fellow and deals in only nice cars. Besides, he has a money back guarantee on your deposit if you are not happy with the car after you see it and he ALWAYS encourages you to come see it and will pick you up at the airport and take you hunting even if you don't buy the car.

When I purchase my next hot rod I intend on having Wendell locate it for me. Have a good day.
